It has always been a dream of mine to travel the world. Like most people, between work and family, traveling overseas seemed it would remain a dream. For years I wanted to go to Japan, if I could just get there to see the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom.  My thought was that it’s too expensive and too daunting of a task.  Then in 2009 I made the decision that I was going to Japan!  I just made it a goal and once I make a goal I give it my all to make it happen.

I saved my money found a great package through a traveling agency and in May of 2010 I made it to Japan.  I went with my daughter and a dear friend of mine.  We only stayed five days, but by day four I was pretty exhausted from all the walking.  I was not prepared with what I call “Tokyo Legs”.   Rather than staying extra days we went to Tokyo Disneyland.  It was my daughter’s first trip to Disneyland as well as her first time out of the country.  We all fell in love with Japan!  Well, actually I knew I would love it before I even got there.

After a very successful trip I decided this is what I want to do.  I couldn’t stay put!    During 2011 I made a new goal, to pay off all my debts and free up some cash for traveling.  I got myself on a strict budget and stuck to it.  By about July I was really seeing the budget plan pay off, I even got to go to Hawaii in the midst of all the dollar allocating!  Since about mid 2011 I have been traveling whenever possible, even if it’s just a weekend excursion.

It is very possible to travel, still work a full time job and take care of your family.  It just takes a goal that is pursued at with planning and patience.  I will pass along my advice and tips on how I make it happen in my life.

Stay tuned… for my method of paying of my debt so quickly and traveling without incurring MORE debt.

PS…

My next big trip is planned for March 30th, I’m heading back to Tokyo!  I’m so excited.  This time it will only be my mom and I.  I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit nerves, but so excited.
